講錯英文沒關係，但有些英文句子錯了會冒犯人，

以下就是幾個例子:

1. Are you a drug dealer? 你是藥廠業務嗎？

2. You must be unbearable to know this bad news. 知道這個壞消息，你必定難以忍受。

3. Thank you for the dinner. We are all full of it. 謝謝你招待我們吃晚餐，我們都吃飽了。

4. You are a confidence woman. 你是個有自信的女人。

5. I’m afraid that I can’t pass the English conversation test, because my hearing is not good.

我擔心自己無法通過英語會話測驗，因為我的聽力不好。

Debug Answer

1. Are you a pharmaceutical salesman?

drug是「藥品」、dealer是「業者、商人」的意思，但兩者合在一起用，卻會被解釋為「毒販」，而非藥材業者，正確說法是pharmaceutical salesman。

2. It must be unbearable for you to know this bad news.

這是典型的文法錯誤：形容詞當補語時，用來表現主詞的狀態，所以you must be unbearable會變成「你一定令人難以忍受」，曲解了原意。

3. Thank you for the dinner. We are all full.

full of it可不是「吃飽」的意思，而是full of shit的委婉說法，意指「胡說八道、吹牛膨風」。

4. You are a confident woman.

Confidence當名詞時，有「自信、信任、把握」的意思，然而a confidence person卻是指詐騙錢財的「騙子」或「詐欺者」。

5. I’m afraid that I can’t pass the English conversation test, because my listening comprehension is not good.

能否聽懂對方語意的所謂「聽的理解力」，英文應該是listening comprehension，若是用hearing則是指「耳朵本身的聽力」，那是器質性問題。
