「他對我很友善」說 He treats me friendly. 就錯了！

以前學校常教，看到結尾-ly就是副詞，其實不然，像是lovely（迷人的、優雅的）、costly（昂貴的）、orderly（整齊的）都不是副詞而是形容詞。請仔細閱讀以下5個句子，找出容易混淆詞性的單字。

1. He treats me friendly. 他對我很友善。
2. Lots of people have complainted about the noise. 很多人都抱怨過噪音的問題。
3. My sister is passion about football. 我妹妹很熱衷於足球。
4. You left the door opened. 你沒把門關上。
5. She seemed relax and in control of the situation. 她看起來很從容，而且感覺掌握整個局勢。

Debug Answer

1. He is friendly to me.
   friendly的結尾ly，讓不少人誤以為是副詞，其實它是形容詞。而形容詞不能修飾動詞，必須將原句結構 treat someone + 副詞，改為 be friendly to someone，表示對（某人）友善的意思。
   
   
2. Lots of people have complained about the noise.
   complaint長得像動詞，但其實為名詞；相反的，complain長得像名詞，但其實是動詞，來看例句：
   
   • complain (v.)：I hate to complain, but the film was terrible.
   我不想抱怨，但這部電影真的很爛。
   
   • complaint (n.)：I've filed a complaint with the police about the noise.
   我已經跟警察投訴噪音的事情。
   
   
3. My sister is passionate about football.
   passion 是熱情、熱衷的名詞，passionate才是形容詞，因此要表達「熱衷於...」，要說has/have a passion for something，或是be passionate about something：
   
   • My sister has a lifelong passion for football. （我妹妹一生都熱衷於足球。）
   • My sister is passionate for football.（我妹妹很熱衷於足球。）
   
   
4. You left the door open.
   很多人以為要在動詞後面加ed才會是形容詞，但open這個字當動詞也當形容詞：Please open the door.（請開門。）；The door is open.（門是開的。）
   
   
5. She seemed relaxed and in control of the situation.
   
   relax也常讓人搞混。動詞為relax：
   • You should take a bath and relax.（你該好好洗個澡然後放鬆。）
   
   形容詞為relaxed或relaxing，relaxed表示感到自在從容的、無拘無束的：
   
   • My parents are fairly relaxed about me staying out late.
   （我在外面待很晚我父母也不會感到太緊張。）
   
   relaxing則是形容令人放鬆、輕鬆的：
   
   • This is a relaxing holiday.（這真是個放鬆的假期。）
