英文的陷阱多半來自於中文思考，一個字、一個字照著翻。要不落入陷阱最好的方法，就是不斷地在陷阱裡打滾，或者讓曾經被陷阱困住的人告訴你，哪些是陷阱，以下是常見的例子：
1、他很驚訝地看地看著老闆。
陷阱：He looked at the boss and felt surprised.
正確：He looked at the boss in surprise.
2、請用英文寫下一段你對這份工作的期待。
陷阱：Please use English to write a paragraph about your expectation from this job.
正確：Please write a paragraph in English about your expectation from this job.
3、我讀過很多你的作品，但沒料到你這麼年輕。
陷阱：I have read a lot of your books but I didn't think you could be so young.
正確：After having read a lot of your books, I expected that you would be older.
4、這些畫讓我回憶起我的童年。
陷阱：The sight of these pictures made me remember my own childhood.
正確：Seeing these pictures reminded me of my own childhood.
5、別理她。
陷阱：Don't pay attention to her.
正確：Leave her alone.
6、我在大學裡學到了許多知識。
陷阱：I get a lot of knowledge in the university.
正確：I learned a lot in university.
7、她正在讀書。
陷阱：She is reading a book.
正確：She is reading.
8、我遇到了很多困難。
陷阱：I am encountering many difficulties.
正確：I am having a few problems / lots of problems.
9、走快點，不然我們會遲到的。
陷阱：Please hurry to walk or we'll be late.
正確：Please hurry up or we'll be late.
10、她由嫉妒轉向生氣。
陷阱：She was so jealous that she became angry
正確：Jealousy drove her to anger.
